Good things always happen on the 30th of the month! The 30th is often a time of celebration because my dad's birthday is December 30, Kelsey's is July 30, Brandon's is March 30 and mine is October 30. Kels and I like to celebrate our half birthdays too so we also consider January 30 and April 30 important! I also have to mention that the 5th is a good day because my great grandma, Mimi, aunts and mom were born on the 5th of various months!
Although the 30th and the 5th are great days, the real point of this post is Kelsey Jo! Her birthday was a month ago today but I feel like we hardly celebrated! We had a birthday dinner for her but it was about 10 days early. We also managed a quick lunch and gift exchange on her actual birthday but she was busy with sorority recruitment and I was getting ready to leave for another trip to Dallas.
Now that Kelsey has now been a part of my life for 19 years and 1 month, it is hard to imagine a single day without her. I don't know how I survived the 2 years and 9 months before she was born! Although Kelsey is younger than me and smaller in size, I often think of her as my big sister. Anytime I need help with something, she is always there to give her advice. Kelsey and I ask each other questions all day long! We begin our daily conversations via text at about 7 a.m. and don't end them until about 10 or 11 p.m. In between our texts, we usually insert a couple of phone calls and sometimes a visit or two!
Kelsey really does know me better than anyone else. After all, we have basically shared one life! After attending the same high school and cheering on the same cheer squad, we both made our way down to OU and have joined Kappa. My college experience has been two times the fun now that I get to share it with Kelsey!
I think my mom understands how close we are because she shares a similar closeness with her sisters but anytime I ask my mom a question about an outfit, craft I'm making, etc., she always gives me her opinion by saying, "I think… but I know you'll need to ask Kels too." I know my dad doesn't understand our closeness because he has told my mom before that Kelsey and I are so close it scares him - we love it!
I don't thank and can't thank Kelsey enough for the advice she gives me, the clothes she lends me, the food she shares with me, the gossip she tells me, the time she spends with me, the laughter she provides me, and my favorite, the best friend that she is to me!
I hope she is already enjoying being 19 and I pray that she has a year filled with lots of laughter, love, financial prosperity, academic success, glitter and anything else that makes her heart happy!
I love you, Kelsey Jo!
