Red River Rivalry

Over the weekend, I traveled down to Dallas to watch the Oklahoma vs. Texas football game! Although the game was a huge upset with Texas beating Oklahoma 36-20, I still had an absolute blast!

Thursday was the kickoff to my adventurous weekend! I spent early Thursday morning packing and doing some last minute homework. Everything I packed, from my pajamas to my workout clothes, was crimson and cream. Brandon picked me up and we headed down to Coppell to spend an evening with his parents. We got to his house around 2:30 in the afternoon. His family recently moved into a new home so we spent the afternoon exploring the house and visiting every Tulsan's favorite convenient store, QuikTrip. In the evening, we went to his high school's hockey game before going to dinner with his family at BJ's.
Friday was OU/TX Eve! I went to stay with Kristen and Brandon left to go back to Oklahoma to play hockey. We thought it might rain at the game on Saturday so Kristen and I went to two CVS stores and a Walgreens to look for emergency rain ponchos. I guess everyone else had the same idea because everywhere we went they were sold out! We ended our poncho-hunting adventure with drinks and snacks from QuikTrip. We spent time in the afternoon visiting with her dad before enjoying an Italian dinner at a local restaurant. In the evening, we road the DART to downtown Dallas. We went to the West End to meet up with several friends. Despite the massive crowd, I ended up running into Kelsey! Kristen and I were tired as we rode the DART home after midnight. As we were pulling away from a stop, she said, "What was that?" and I said, "downtown something". Her eyes got really big and we both started laughing. We had just missed our stop. Luckily, we were able to catch the DART going the other direction and we made it home safely!
Saturday was the big day! Because we went downtown on Friday night, we did not get in bed until 2:15 in the morning then woke up at 7 to get ready for the fair! We left Kristen's house around 8:30 to head to the DART. We did not return home until 7:30 in the evening! Exhausted is an understatement. We got to the fair and went right into the Cotton Bowl. Our seats were on the sixth row in the end zone. It was supposed to rain so it was extremely humid. We sat in our seats until halftime then one of our friends gave us passes to go up into a patio area. We were farther from the field but we had shade and cushioned chairs! After the game, we walked around the fair for hours. The bottom of my feet were raw from all of the standing and walking. We ate lots of yummy fair food - Texas tater twisters, a funnel cake and fresh lemonade! We spent Saturday night at Kristen's house trying to recover from our tiring day!
Sunday was home sweet OklaHOME! I knew I had yelled a lot at the game and I had spent plenty of time talking and laughing throughout the weekend but when I woke up, I had no voice! Kristen and I spent the morning slowly packing and chatting with her parents before I headed over to Brandon's house to spend some more time with him and his family. I shopped in the afternoon with Brandon's mom and sister before Kristen drove Brandon and me back to Norman. Traffic was not horrible but it was definitely heavier than normal! The weekend flew by and as I previously mentioned was a total blast but completely exhausting!

Despite the loss, I still have to say BOOMER!
