730 Days of You + Me

by - November 26, 2013

Brandon and I started dating two years ago today. We often get asked how we met and we usually look at each other with a face that says, "you explain"! There's a long, medium, and short version of our story. I'll give you the medium version!

Brandon and I met after my suitemate, Kristen, introduced us (this is the short version). Brandon and I were introduced during February of my freshman year at OU. When Kristen introduced us, she had no intentions of Brandon and me dating, but on April 2, Kristen and I became inseparable best friends. From that night on, she began telling me how I was going to date Brandon. You see, Kristen's boyfriend was Dillon and Dillon's best friend was Brandon so it only made sense for Kristen's best friend to date Dillon's best friend!

Kristen and I talked about Brandon constantly and she talked to Bran lots too because Dillon was away at Marine boot camp. I saw Brandon when he visited OU at the end of April and when I visited Dallas in May and July. I knew there was something special about Brandon! I was so giddy anytime he was around or anytime Kristen and I talked about him!

Although I saw Brandon several times, we didn't exchange phone numbers until the end of August. By this point, I was beginning my sophomore year at OU and he had moved to Atlanta to play hockey. After Kristen and I gave him the perfect setup via Facebook message, Brandon finally asked for my number on August 30 and we have talked everyday since!

Throughout my sophomore year, Brandon and I Skyped and talked on the phone regularly then over Thanksgiving break, Dillon, Brandon, and I traveled to Dallas. I was beyond nervous but so excited to see Brandon! During the day, Brandon and I had established that we were going to remain friends and not date but that evening, after a double date that consisted of dinner, ice skating, and a carriage ride around downtown Dallas, Brandon said, "Are you my girlfriend?" and we've been dating ever since!

Brandon and I were skeptical of dating because we knew it would be a long distance relationship. At first, long distance was Atlanta to Norman then it was Dallas to Norman then Dallas to Tulsa and now that Brandon is playing hockey at UCO, we're doing "short" distance with Edmond to Norman!

Our God is miraculous. His works are so detailed. Had Kristen and Dillon not dated and had Kristen and I not been suitemates, I probably would have never met Brandon. I'm forever grateful that when Kristen and I became best friends, I gained two more best friends. I'm also thankful that Brandon and I are able to be 45 minutes apart. I don't know how I ever went more than a week without seeing him!

No story is complete without a set of pictures!
