Ken's Lens: January 2020
Today marks the last day of the first month of the year and the start to my new series: Ken's Lens! Posting pics from trips and significant life events is easy. But I don't want to forget the everyday stuff that brought me joy. So here we go!
January has always been my least favorite month. Once the Christmas décor comes down, the earth's colors are muted. The sun goes into hibernation, and the sky turns charcoal gray. The grass blends in with the dirt, and the trees are bare and brown. Holiday letdown is real, y'all!
I have to say though... this January was far better than most! Perhaps, that's because 2019 ended so harshly. Either way, I'll take it!

Weekend with G, G & E: JuJu's Christmas gift was a trip to Chuck E. Cheese, which turned into a full day of play. Grant stayed the night, and we took him to his basketball game. He loves basketball and is more sports savvy than I ever have been or will be. When we picked up Georgia and Ethan, we quickly realized that three littles don't fit into an average-sized vehicle. Aunt Janie and Tay Tay joined the party and helped shuttle. Chuck E. Cheese was followed by a trip to the Dollar Store, where everybody got $3 to spend. After that, we threw it back to the early 2000s and made brownies in our Easy-Bake Oven.
Happy Hour at CANVAS Hotel: I ended my work day downtown so L and I grabbed drinks and caught up. A. chic venue. B. girl time is good for the soul.
Dinner at Hattie's & Drinks at Paradiso: the very next night, Katie was in town so I saw L again. Same story: chic and good for the soul.
Bachelor & Bridesmaid: Kristen invited me over to watch The Bachelor and asked me to be a bridesmaid. The answer was easy, of course!

Wedding Planning: we got a lot accomplished this month! Sam met with several vendors at the lake and signed a handful of contracts. We're realizing that a backyard wedding at our private residence is far more complex and expensive than at a venue. We both enjoy a challenge and a project though. Our wedding is just so us, and I love that.
