New Year, New Job
In my Work Hard, Play Hard post from 2017, I started by saying I had been at ChildCareGroup for three years. Shortly after that post, I left CCG and headed for the MetroTex Association of REALTORS, where I've worked for the last three year. But just like last time, that's changing!
I am beyond excited to turn my favorite tasks of tidying and decluttering into my dream job. I can't wait to be a full-time Professional Organizer at Sorted Out! So much to come on this later.
In the meantime, here's a little bit of background on my life as a MetroTexan. For the first two years, I worked as the Event and Production Manager. I planned more than 40 events a year. In summer 2019, I was promoted to a position that I helped create in the Government Affairs Department. I worked as the TREPAC and Events Fundraising Manager. I only planned a couple of events a year and spent most of my time in meetings brainstorming ways to raise funds for the Texas Real Estate Political Action Committee. The mission of TREPAC is to promote home ownership and protect private property rights. TREPAC supports candidates that support real estate issues.
Here are some fun and candid moments during my time with the REALTORS!
I love this shot from a White Party planning meeting at the Empire Room. Pre-pandemic, this is what my day-to-day looked like a lot of the time.
Several years in a row, our signature White Party had a guest monkey.
And aerialists.
Party 'til you pop! Literally. After the party, I had to pop all of these.
I worked with the Property Brothers for our centennial celebration. They are so, so nice!
It's me! Hiding behind the cop. Ha!
Another shot from a planning meeting. This time for Belles and Boots.
No flying gals or wild animals at this party, but there was a cute baby!
Some fellow MetroTexans.
Not sure what this auctioneer was saying. Ha!
Same baby as earlier. Sweet P made sure I didn't miss all the kiddos at ChildCareGroup too much!
In three years, I sat in three different places. This was my last office aka the dungeon. This picture was in September. I had no idea when I left in March that I wouldn't see this space again for six months.
Speaking of desks... let's not forget about the time our kitchen table became my desk while I gave up pool days and brunch plans to study for the CMP.
Dinner in Austin with members and staff during TREPAC Orientation.
Tablescape from our Farm to Table TREPAC Fundraiser.
Rare sighting: event manager sitting down.
One of my favorite REALTOR members at our annual Red Party.
And the entertainment at that party. Ha!
Halloween is a big deal at MetroTex. The pig emoji was my first boss, and she actually has a pet pig!
Work trips took me to Vegas, Cincinnati, Washington DC, San Francisco and Austin countless times.
xo, KD
