Birthday #27 | Part I

by - April 30, 2019

Today is my half birthday! KJ and I always celebrate our half birthdays, and you should too!

I thought today was a better opportunity than any to share about my 27th birthday. I really want this post to be about how great my family and friends are. 27 was one of my favorite birthdays. I felt so loved and received the most endearing gifts.
My birthday fell on a Tuesday. The weekend before, I went to the OU game with my mom and sister. They gave me a gift card to Dallas Center for Photography. This is where the endearing gifts started! I had casually mentioned that I wanted to attend a photography class, and KJ found a place in Dallas. I was so excited and couldn't believe that she remembered that I had said that months before. More on that in my next post!

I told Kristen and Sam that I didn't want to make a big deal out of my birthday. I said, "let's do something casual like dinner in workout clothes". We decided on Tacos and Tequila.

Kristen texted me that afternoon and said she needed to watch her niece. She promised that we would celebrate later in the week. Laura texted me a couple of hours later and said that she was stuck at work. I let Sam know that it would just be the two of us and told him that I could come to his house. He had officially lived in Farmers Branch for 24 hours.

Sam insisted on coming to Uptown and said he still wanted TNT for dinner. We checked in with the hostess, and she sent us upstairs to the patio. Guess who was there! Kristen, Johnny and Laura! Just thinking about it brings happy tears to my eyes. It was the sweetest surprise. They truly tricked me, and I loved it! I'm a planner by nature, and they told me they couldn't let me plan my own party.

We ate tacos and drank margs then I opened presents. More endearing gifts! Kristen and Laura brought gift bags that were the same size and coordinating colors. I opened Kristen's first. It was a blush pink passport holder and luggage tag with my monogram in gold. So cute and personal! Then I opened Laura's. Also, a blush pink passport holder with my monogram in gold with photos from our travels. The exact same gift!

I felt like my two best friends just knew me, and this is why I say that these were such endearing gifts. They knew exactly what I would want. Yes, I can only use one at a time, but I hope I travel often enough to wear them both out! I just felt so loved.

They had arranged dessert, of course, and Kristen had given them special birthday candles to top it off. When we got back home, Sam surprised me with more gifts! The surprises and love were endless.

This makes me think of the saying "when you find good people, keep them close".
