Getaway: Iceland

September 2018 // Reykjavik
Iceland is magical! My girlfriends and I went two weeks after Sam and his friends. We followed all of his recommendations. We were only gone for four nights. You could easily stay there for 10 days!

Been There Done That:
Our first stop in Iceland! This geothermal spa is one of the 25 wonders of the world. The perfect cure for flight delays and jet lag! Note: hair conditioner is a must! We didn’t use enough at first and our hair was fried the rest of the trip.

Golden Circle
Öxarárfoss: the pool at the base of the waterfall is filled with rocks. You have to go on a mini hike to get there, but it's breathtaking.
Laugarvatn Fontana: sleek lakefront spa featuring natural steam baths, outdoor mineral pools and a sauna. So relaxing!
Geysir: a huge hot spring, which spouts water hundreds of feet into the air. We got lucky, and it went off right when we got there.
Gullfoss: waterfall located in the canyon of the Hvítá River. We saw the prettiest rainbow!
Friðheimar: a tomato greenhouse with unlimited tomato soup. The cutest and yummiest! Reservations are required.
Faxafoss: wide waterfall in the Tungufljót River. You can get really close.
Kerið: volcanic crater lake. We had the most fun taking pics here. The colors are amazing.

Snorkeling: we snorkeled between the American and European tectonic plates. The water is 2°c. You wear a base layer, and they provide two outer layers. You stay dry and warm – minus your hands and face, which FREEZE! But worth it.
Horseback Riding: a lot more exciting than expected! You ride to a hidden waterfall. The stables are owned by the sweetest family. They had coffee and homemade bread inside.

Night Life
B5: so much fun! Lots of American music and dancing.
Lebowski: Also so, so fun!

Our house was perfect for four girls! We walked to dinner every evening.
