Getway: Santa Fe

July 2018 // Santa Fe
Fourth of July was on a Wednesday so Kels and I took a long holiday weekend and went to Santa Fe to stay at Dr. Mary's vacation home. I wanted to spend the 4th at my pool in Uptown so I got up extra early on the 5th to drive to OKC. Kels drove us to Santa Fe, and we got there mid-afternoon.

Kels warned me that it was going to be a relaxing and laid back trip. I have a fear of being bored so I made lists of work items and brought books to keep myself occupied. It was relaxing, but we were busy the entire time!

Every morning, we ran the neighborhood then hiked. After that, we would shower and get ready to shop and eat.

We spent a lot of time with Mary. And Happy and Mellow! Mary showed us some of her favorite spots and told us stories about all of her trips to Santa Fe with Tom. Happy was born in Santa Fe and lived at a bird shop until he was big enough for Mary and Tom to take him home.

Our favorite spot was Coyote Cantina. Kels had been there with Brett earlier in the summer. We ate their twice. The second time we went there to get jalapeno poppers, but they were out. We were craving them so much that we went to Sonic to get some on our way back to OKC. We're big fans of jalapeno poppers!

On our way home, we also stopped at Cadillac Ranch. A really fun couple took several pics for us. It's a total tourist attraction but cool to read about and see.

Santa Fe is such a quaint little place! I adore the town. It was also 60° in New Mexico, which was a nice break from the Texas heat!
