Home Sweet Apartment
As everyone prepares to move back to school, I can't help but think about how excited I am to fully move back into my "home away from home"!
I met my roommate, Kristen, when we moved into the dorms freshman year. We were suitemates, which means our dorm rooms were connected through the bathroom. We became best friends! Sophomore year, we lived in the sorority house, but Kristen is in one sorority and I am in another. Talk about separation anxiety! We knew for sure that we wanted to live together again our junior year so we went apartment shopping. When we saw the pool at the first apartment complex, we were sold!
It's been a year since Kristen and I moved into our apartment! We made so many memories and have a new appreciation for our mommas - cooking, cleaning, and entertaining is tough work! I made a list of some of my favorite memories from our little home:
- When we first moved into our apartment and hung all the crosses on our cross wall.
- When we were making pasta and Kristen substituted milk for water. The noodles were completely glued to the bottom of the "nonstick" pan my mom gave us.
- When Kristen BUSTED into my room in the middle of the night because of something she saw on Facebook. I thought someone had broken in so I played dead.
- When Kristen pulled an all nighter to finish writing a 22-page paper. I was shocked to wake up and see all of the lights on and my delirious roommate sitting in the same spot.
- When we had people over for dinner and accidentally set off the fire alarm.
- When we had a Super Bowl party, which included burgers and lots of homemade goodies.
- When we "celebrated" making not-so-good grades on petty 2-page papers.
- When we went to the clubhouse for Weenie Wednesday (every week).
- When we filled a bucket full of things that we wanted to get rid of then lowered it onto our neighbors' balcony.
- When we got sunburned because we stayed at the pool for 10 hours straight.
Kristen and I call our apartment by its building letter and apartment number like it's its name. That being said, I can't wait to see what kind of memories J303 has in store for us during our last year of college!
