Kramer Farm: Inola, OK
A Day on the Farm:
Hauling Hay: dad sold two loads of hay, which had to be loaded on his customers' trailers. Sam was at the top of the hay barn knocking bales down and learning how to properly release the hay hook! The Amish neighbor, Mr. Yoder, came to help. By the way he was working, we guessed he was about 60. He's 80! And said he had worked on our farm for over 40 years. He used to work for my grandpa.
Trimming Trees: Sam and dad trimmed the fence line then piled up the brush with dad's new tractor. For one of the limbs that the pole saw couldn't reach, Sam got in the tractor bucket and my dad lifted him up. Dad definitely was not as smooth of a driver as he could have been with his future son-in-law's life in his hands. Ha! Dad showed us a line of pine trees that my grandpa had planted. Of course, Sam found a way to turn the cones and sticks into a quick game of golf.
Shuffling Race Car Parts: the farm has a brand new building, which is race car storage for the neighbors' cars. They got a delivery while we were there so we unloaded an entire enclosed trailer full of every kind of car part imaginable.
Talking with the Sheriff: Officer Walton happens to be the neighbor and a lifelong family friend. Sam and I spent over an hour talking to him. His stories were better than watching Live PD.
"Is Sam sore?": my dad was so excited that Sam was interested in seeing how he spends his Saturdays. Dad called the next day and wanted to know if Sam was sore. He wasn't, but my dad was. My dad's one goal was to "wear Sam out, but it totally backfired".
