Save Our New Date

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue... #CoronaBride

In three days, our wedding weekend would commence. By now, we would have had three wedding showers, Sam would have been to San Diego with his 20 best friends, and KJ and I would have celebrated our last trip as single sisters in Banff. None of that happened... yet!
In late April, we officially postponed our wedding celebration. With gathering size and travel restrictions, it was impossible for us to celebrate in-person with our family and friends. After our change-of-plans announcement, we kept getting questions about what our real wedding day would look like. And honestly, I didn't know. We kept praying and talking–running through all possible options.
It wasn't until recently that our plans fell into place. As I started to type that our new plan was all Sam's idea, it occurred to me that is exactly what I prayed for and will continue to pray for 'til death do us part. Every time I thought about what our wedding should look like, I would ask God to speak to me through Sam, and of course, He delivered.

Our plan has always been for Mike, our next door neighbor, to marry us. Sam said he can't imagine anyone but Mike performing our ceremony. Mike is so calm and cheery. We will be the fourth couple that Mike has married, and the first three are still married so we thought that was a good sign. Ha! One of the ceremonies that Mike performed was actually in our backyard prior to Sam buying the house.
On June 13, we will say 'I Do' in a private sunset ceremony. This intimate moment will take place on the boat in the middle of Cedar Creek Lake.

Next year, we'll renew our vows to confirm our promise to each other in front of our family and friends. We cannot wait to celebrate with everyone, but there's been so much freedom in focusing on getting married and not worrying about a wedding. We hope to reschedule some of our pre-wedding festivities, but for now, we will celebrate becoming Mr. and Mrs. Sam Dodge!

In case you were wondering, I am saving my real wedding dress for next year. ;) And Sam's GoPro will capture this year's ceremony!
