Getaway: RVA

August 2021 // Richmond, Virginia

Virginia is for lovers, and I'm in love with Virginia! Richmond is such a darling and quaint little place. My mom and I went to go make sure KJ and Brett were surviving on their own, and they are thriving!

We flew in Friday and had a picnic on the lawn at the fine arts museum. KJ's co-residents met us at the park then came over. She is paired with three of the greatest gals! They became instant friends, and I know they will be friends for life.

Saturday was rainy, but we toured the whole town anyway. After brunch, we made our way through Hollywood Cemetery up to Church Hill then to the house where George Washington stayed after the "give me liberty or give me death" speech. In the afternoon, we checked in on the Olympics then spent five hours shopping in Carytown. We also met the upstairs neighbors, and they are so sweet and so much fun!

We discovered the perfect little beach on Sunday. It was only an hour away! We woke up early and grabbed biscuits from The Fancy Biscuit - so chic and delicious! We stopped by Publix to get Pub Subs for lunch, and as Brett promised, they did not disappoint. After the beach, we had dinner at Barrio, and oh my gosh! Their swirls are so much better than anything in Texas. They look like ice cream, and you eat them with a spoon! So, so good.

KJ had to go back to work on Monday. Boo, but Brett took us to Maymont, a 100-acre estate and park. Gorgeous! Our last stop was Joe's Inn for lunch. Another great meal.

I literally cannot wait to go back to RVA next month! Yes, I already booked another flight. Ha! I mean just look how cute their porch is!
